Maddie was selected this year to be one of only two 4th graders to compete on the Huachuca Elementary Robotics Team. The team competes with other schools in Arizona in building Lego® robots that are programmed to perform certain tasks. Each year, a theme is chosen for the competition requiring students to research technological solutions to modern problems.
The theme this year is Alternative Fuels. Maddie is becoming quite a fountain of knowledge on the subject of E85 (ethanol fuel derived mostly from corn.)She helps make up a team of eight, the remaining five team members all 5th graders. Wesley competed last year in Phoenix, and jumped at the chance to come back this year and mentor the elementary school team. Fun.
